Video replays showed Thomas making contact with Clark's throat as Clark fell to the floor while being defended by Mercury guard Lexi Held. Thomas was assessed a flagrant foul 1 on the play. The league upgraded the penalty to a suspension after review.
Thomas will serve the suspension during the Sun's next game against the Las Vegas Aces on June 27. She apologized after the game, saying the contact was unintentional. Clark was not injured and remained in the game.
