Nigerien fashion designer Alphadi, known as the 'Prince of the Desert,' has opened a new exhibition titled 'Fashion for Dignity and Peace' at the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac in Paris. The exhibition, which began on June 2, 2026, showcases his work blending traditional African textiles with contemporary fashion.
Alphadi, whose real name is Seidnaly Sidhamed, has been a prominent figure in African fashion for decades. The exhibition highlights his commitment to promoting peace and dignity through fashion, featuring pieces that incorporate materials like bogolan (mud cloth) and other West African techniques.
The Musée du Quai Branly, which focuses on indigenous art and cultures, provides a fitting venue for Alphadi's work. The exhibition runs until September 6, 2026, and includes a series of workshops and talks on sustainable fashion and cultural heritage.
This event underscores the growing recognition of African fashion on the global stage and Alphadi's role as a cultural ambassador. The designer has previously organized the Festival International de la Mode Africaine (FIMA) and continues to advocate for peace through his art.
