The French furniture retail groups Alinea and Ziegler have been placed in receivership by the Commercial Court of Bobigny, putting more than 3,000 jobs at risk. The court made the decision on March 31, 2026, appointing judicial administrators to oversee the companies.

The parent company, Alinea-Ziegler, which operates 80 stores across France, has been struggling with significant financial difficulties. The court's ruling initiates a six-month observation period to seek potential buyers or a recovery plan.

If no viable solution is found to ensure the continuity of the businesses, the companies could face liquidation, leading to the dismissal of all employees. The CGT union has expressed deep concern over the situation for the workforce.

The receivership follows a period of declining sales and intense competition in the home furnishings sector, exacerbated by broader economic pressures on consumer spending.
