The University of Alabama Board of Trustees has approved a contract extension for football head coach Kalen DeBoer through the 2033 season, according to official university records. The extension, announced on April 22, 2026, secures DeBoer's tenure with the Crimson Tide for the foreseeable future.
DeBoer, who took over as head coach in 2024 following the retirement of Nick Saban, led Alabama to a 10-3 record in his first season, including a victory in the ReliaQuest Bowl. The new contract, which runs through January 31, 2034, includes a base salary of $600,000 annually, with additional compensation from media rights and other sources bringing the total to approximately $10.5 million per year.
The extension comes after a successful 2025 season where Alabama posted an 11-2 record and secured a spot in the College Football Playoff. The board's approval was unanimous, reflecting confidence in DeBoer's leadership and the program's trajectory.
DeBoer's contract includes performance bonuses for conference championships, playoff appearances, and national titles, as well as a buyout clause that decreases over time. The deal also provides resources for assistant coach salaries and facility upgrades.
