Dar es Salaam. Airtel Tanzania has paid a dividend of Sh65.48 billion to the Government of Tanzania for the 2025/26 financial year, according to a statement from the company. This brings the total dividend payments by the telecom operator to the State since 2019 to approximately Sh350 billion.
The dividend cheque was presented to the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, in Dar es Salaam. The government holds a 40 percent stake in Airtel Tanzania through the Tanzania Telecommunications Corporation (TTCL).
Airtel Tanzania Managing Director, Dinesh Balsingh, said the dividend reflects the company's strong financial performance and commitment to contributing to the national economy. The funds are expected to support government development projects.
The payment underscores the profitability of the telecommunications sector in Tanzania, which has seen increased mobile money and data usage. Airtel Tanzania is one of the leading mobile network operators in the country.
