An Air France flight bound for Rabat, Morocco, was forced to return to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport shortly after takeoff on Friday evening, April 11, 2026, due to a suspicious odor detected in the cabin. The incident involved flight AF1394, operated by an Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
The aircraft departed at 9:03 p.m. local time but turned back approximately 30 minutes into the flight. It landed safely back at its origin airport at 10:15 p.m. A standard emergency protocol was activated upon landing, with airport fire and rescue services meeting the aircraft as a precaution.
Air France confirmed the incident, stating the precautionary return was made to allow for technical checks. The 150 passengers on board were accommodated on a replacement aircraft, which departed for Rabat the following morning. An investigation into the source of the odor is underway.
