On May 8, 2026, the city of Agadir officially launched its first Bus Rapid Transit (BHNS) line, marking a significant step in modernizing public transport in the Souss-Massa region. The new line spans 12 kilometers and includes 24 stations, connecting key areas of the city.
The project, developed by the Agadir Souss-Massa Transport Company (ATS), aims to reduce traffic congestion and provide a reliable, high-capacity transit option. Buses operate on dedicated lanes, ensuring faster travel times compared to regular traffic.
According to local officials, the BHNS system is expected to serve approximately 100,000 passengers daily, with a frequency of every 5 minutes during peak hours. The fleet consists of modern, low-floor buses equipped with air conditioning and accessibility features for people with reduced mobility.
The launch is part of a broader urban mobility plan for Agadir, which includes future expansions of the BHNS network and integration with other transport modes. The project received funding from the Moroccan government and international partners.
