Academy Announces 2025 Nicholl Fellows in Screenwriting

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has selected five writers for its 2025 Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the five recipients of the 2025 Don and Gee Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting. The winners were selected from 5,741 entries submitted this year.

Each fellow will receive a $35,000 prize, with payments distributed in installments over the course of a year. The primary goal of the fellowship is to aid the writers in completing a feature-length screenplay during their fellowship year.

The 2025 fellows are: Christina H. Kim for "The Foreigner's Home," J. Miller for "The Last Ride of the Los Angeles," Kelsey S. for "The Last Summer of the World," Michael A. for "The Last Voyage of the Demeter," and Sarah C. for "The Last Will and Testament of..." The Academy's Nicholl Committee, comprised of Academy members, oversees the annual competition.

The fellowship program, established in 1985, is one of the most prestigious screenwriting competitions in the world. It is funded by a bequest from Don Nicholl and has launched the careers of numerous successful screenwriters.
