An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Negros Occidental, who was reportedly abused in Kuwait, is scheduled to return to the Philippines, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). The DMW confirmed that the worker, whose identity is withheld for privacy, will be repatriated with assistance from the Philippine government.
The case came to light after the OFW's family sought help from local officials and the DMW. The agency coordinated with the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait to process her return and provide necessary support. The DMW has not disclosed specific details of the abuse but assured that the worker will receive counseling and legal assistance upon arrival.
This repatriation is part of the government's ongoing efforts to protect OFWs, especially those in distress. The DMW has been working to strengthen welfare programs and ensure that workers abroad are not subjected to exploitation or harm.
The OFW is expected to arrive in the Philippines within the week, where she will be reunited with her family in Negros Occidental. The DMW will continue to monitor her case and provide post-arrival services.
