Geelong and Gold Coast champion Gary Ablett Jr was inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame on June 9, 2026, joining his father Gary Ablett Sr as a legend of the game. The induction ceremony took place at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.
John Worsfold, a West Coast Eagles premiership captain and former coach, was also elevated to legend status. Worsfold led the Eagles to the 1992 and 1994 AFL premierships and later coached Essendon.
Other inductees included former St Kilda and Sydney star Tony Lockett, who was already a legend, and Bill Walker, a West Australian great who was posthumously elevated. The Hall of Fame now has 30 legends.
