NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — Aaron Rai captured his first major championship Sunday at the PGA Championship, shooting a final-round 6-under 65 to win by two strokes at Aronimink Golf Club.
Rai, 27, of England, finished at 15-under 269 for the tournament. He birdied three of his final four holes to hold off a charging field. The victory is his first on the PGA Tour and his first major title.
Rai's win comes after a season in which he had three top-10 finishes. He entered the final round tied for the lead and closed with a bogey-free round.
