Morocco's Ministry of Industry and Commerce awarded the first 'Made in Morocco' certification labels to nearly 80 industrial companies during a ceremony held on Thursday in Casablanca, according to official sources. The initiative aims to promote national products and enhance their competitiveness in both local and international markets.
The certification process was developed in collaboration with the Moroccan Institute of Standardization (IMANOR) and other stakeholders to ensure that labeled products meet specific quality and origin criteria. Companies from various sectors, including agri-food, textiles, and electronics, were among the first recipients.
Minister of Industry and Commerce Ryad Mezzour emphasized that the label is a key tool to boost consumer confidence and support the 'Made in Morocco' brand globally. The government plans to expand the program to more companies in the coming months, with a target of reaching 200 certified firms by the end of 2026.
The event marks a significant step in Morocco's industrial strategy, which seeks to increase the share of local products in domestic consumption and reduce imports. The label is part of broader efforts to modernize the industrial sector and create jobs.
