In a significant achievement, 63 students from government schools in NTR district have secured admissions to Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) for the 2026-27 academic year. The students were selected through a special initiative aimed at promoting access to premier technical education for underprivileged backgrounds.
The admissions were facilitated by the district education department in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh government, which provided coaching and mentorship to the students. The selected students will pursue undergraduate programs in various fields of information technology at IIITs across the country.
District officials confirmed that the students excelled in the entrance examinations, with many scoring in the top percentiles. The initiative is part of a broader effort to bridge the educational gap and provide equal opportunities for rural and government school students.
