Morocco's telecommunications sector is undergoing a significant transformation driven by the expansion of 5G networks and increasing data consumption. As of early 2026, operators such as Maroc Telecom, Orange Maroc, and Inwi have been actively rolling out 5G services in major cities like Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech, aiming to enhance connectivity and support digital innovation.
The adoption of 5G is expected to boost Morocco's digital economy, with applications in smart cities, telemedicine, and industrial automation. According to reports from the Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télécommunications (ANRT), data traffic has surged by over 40% year-on-year, driven by video streaming and mobile internet usage.
However, challenges remain, including the need for substantial investment in infrastructure and spectrum allocation. The Moroccan government has set a target to cover 70% of the population with 5G by 2028, as part of its 'Digital Morocco 2030' strategy.
