Two U.S. service members are missing after participating in a multinational training exercise in Morocco, according to a statement Sunday from U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).
The service members were reported missing on May 3, 2026, after they failed to return from a training event. The exercise, known as African Lion, is a joint military drill involving U.S. and Moroccan forces, along with other partner nations.
Search and rescue operations are underway, with U.S. and Moroccan personnel coordinating efforts. The identities of the missing service members have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
