Sharks' Celebrini scores twice in win over Canadiens

San Jose Sharks rookie Macklin Celebrini scored two goals in a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night at the SAP Center. The 19-year-old forward opened the scoring in the first period and added an empty-net goal late in the third to seal the win.

Celebrini, the first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, now has 22 goals and 48 points in his debut season. His performance against Montreal this season includes a total of seven points across two games.

Goaltender Magnus Chrona made 31 saves for the Sharks, who improved their record. Nick Suzuki and Juraj Slafkovský scored for the Canadiens in the losing effort.

The Sharks' next game is against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, while the Canadiens continue their road trip against the Vegas Golden Knights.
