Kate reveals alcohol reduction since cancer diagnosis

Princess Kate disclosed she has greatly reduced alcohol consumption since her March 2024 cancer diagnosis during London brewery visit.

Princess Kate revealed she has significantly reduced her alcohol consumption since her cancer diagnosis, telling brewery owner Hannah Rhodes during a visit to London's Fabal Beerhall on March 12, 2026: "Since my diagnosis I haven't had much alcohol ... it's something I have to be a lot more conscious of now."

The Princess of Wales first went public with her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, announcing she would undergo "a course of preventative chemotherapy" at the advice of her medical team. In January 2025, she announced she was in remission and would make a gradual return to her royal duties.

The 44-year-old opted for a soft drink instead during the brewery visit with Prince William, who described himself as "a cider man" to onlookers. When offered to taste the beer after helping pull a pint, Kate politely declined and explained her lifestyle change.

Health authorities including the CDC and World Health Organization note that alcohol consumption has been linked to multiple types of cancer, and reducing or abstaining from alcohol is beneficial for overall health. Kate has not disclosed the type or stage of cancer with which she was diagnosed.
