Fourth man charged with murder of Greenock father Robert Best

A fourth man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Robert Best, 39, in Greenock in February 2026.

A fourth man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Robert Best in Greenock. The 39-year-old father was found seriously injured on Carnock Street on February 23, 2026, and died a short time later.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged on March 16, 2026. He made no plea during a private appearance at Greenock Sheriff Court on March 17 and was remanded in custody.

Three other men, aged 28, 29, and 30, were previously charged in connection with the murder and have also been remanded. A Police Scotland spokesperson stated the investigation remains ongoing.
