Google has rolled out a new update for its Chrome browser on Android, introducing a dedicated bookmarks bar. The feature, which has been available on the desktop version for years, allows users to pin their most-visited or important websites directly below the address bar for one-tap access.

The update, part of Chrome version 122, began its staged release in early March 2026. It addresses a long-standing user request to improve bookmark management on mobile devices. The bar can be toggled on or off in the browser's settings under the "Accessibility" or "Homepage" sections, depending on the device.

Google Chrome maintains a dominant position in the global browser market. According to recent data from StatCounter, Chrome's worldwide market share across all platforms stood at approximately 66% as of February 2026, remaining the most widely used browser.

The introduction of the bookmarks bar is part of Google's ongoing efforts to refine the mobile browsing experience and align features more closely between its desktop and mobile platforms. Other recent updates have focused on performance improvements and enhanced privacy controls.
