Chilean architect Smiljan Radić Clarke has been awarded the 2024 Pritzker Architecture Prize, widely regarded as the profession's highest accolade. The announcement came Thursday morning, recognizing Radić's exceptional contributions to contemporary architecture through his innovative and unconventional approach to design.

Fellow Chilean architect Alejandro Aravena, who chairs the prize committee, praised Radić's unique vision: "In every work, he is able to answer with radical originality, making the unobvious obvious." This recognition highlights Radić's ability to transform architectural challenges into creative opportunities that push the boundaries of traditional design.

When asked about receiving the honor, Radić expressed genuine surprise at the selection. "Yes, completely," the architect responded, reflecting the humility that has characterized his career despite creating some of the most distinctive architectural works in recent years.

The Pritzker Prize, established in 1979, has previously honored architectural legends such as Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, and Tadao Ando. Radić joins this prestigious group as recognition of architecture's evolving landscape and the growing influence of Latin American architects on the global stage.
